Always be prepared!

Effectiveness in anything in life requires an understanding and preparedness. Many of us have not made it our duty to share the gospel regularly because, we are not sure of what to say.

We need to practice how we can go about sharing the good news in different life situations.

Effectiveness, precision and perfection in any task come as we do it over and over again. The saying goes ‘practice makes a man perfect’. You cannot become perfect in what you do not practice. So it is with evangelism; the more we evangelize the more we grow in that grace. Today’s session has been designed as a practical session to get us get us try to practice sharing the good news in different situations.

Let’s spend some time to look at the evangelism models below and get some of us to practice using the themes as a guide to share the gospel with another person.
Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.  1Peter 3:15
A.     THE ROMANS MODEL:
Introduction: The Gospel has both good news and bad news.
Bad News:
  1. (Romans 3:23) Everyone is a sinner by birth (Additional quotes Rom 3:10, 12)
  2. (Romans 6:23a) Sin attracts a penalty
Good News:
God took an initiative to sort us out.
  1. (Rom 5:8) Through Jesus Christ
  2. (Rom 3:20-22; 10:9) Believe and confess to accept his provision; and you’re saved.

B.     JOHN’S MODEL: The Love approach
  1. (John 3:16; 15:13) There is a price for love and God paid the full price to demonstrate how much He loves you
  2. (John 1:12) If someone deeply loves you and you ignore them, it really hurts. Respond by accepting Him.
  3. (John 14:21) - The practical implication of receiving Him is to be guided by His Word - This will eventually result in God’s love being manifested through your life.

C.     A MODEL FOR SOMEONE IN CRISIS:
Introduction: Many are burdened and frustrated by sin, oppression, disease, pain, addiction, failures in relationships, financial difficulties, sudden death etc. Any of these could lead to loss of hope, feeling of helplessness, suicidal tendencies, and wanting to give up on life itself.
There is hope in Christ: (Matt 11: 28-30)
It is to these that Jesus referred to as burdened, weary and heavy laden. He said COME:
All are invited (Matt 22:1-10) And you will have REST: (John 14:27)

The Gospel is Love. Spread the love of our God!
