Prayer: An Art of Breaking through
Have you ever considered why prayer is an important art of breakthrough? As a believer, we communicate to God our Father through prayer.

By definition, prayer is a unique mode of communication with God. We receive guidance to march forward, to breakthrough and forge ahead in the place of prayer.
Life is a battlefield, and, in every battlefield, there is a need for continuous communication within the team. The need for effective communication cannot be overemphasized. In fact, some army use public address system to amplify their message within the team. Likewise, as believers, we are an army of God and we communicate with the Lord of heavenly host through effectual prayers.

We receive guidance to march forward, to breakthrough and forge ahead in the place of prayer.

Again, prayer is a two-way communication between you and God, a mode of request for God’s attention e.g. “Rabbi, I want to see.” in Mark 10:51

Mark 10:51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

Here are a few things to note about Prayer as an art of breakthrough

  • Prayer should be specific, simple, straight to the point and sincere unto God Almighty through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 14:13-14 (NIV) And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16 King James Version (KJV) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

  • Most importantly, we should trust God in our prayers.
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

  • The breakthrough prayers should also care for others, that is, include other people in your prayers. We are admonished to pray for one another as a united team of God.
Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

  • Also, we must listen to God’s instruction while praying.
Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

  • Prayer is understanding the ability of God and walking away from worry based on His ability.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  • Persistence prayer is crucial for breakthrough in life. Don’t give up!
