As we round up April teachings on 'The Power of HIS Resurrection',  here are important things we learned about the significance of JESUS' death and resurrection.

Genesis 1:28, KJV: "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

From the scripture above, we can say that one of the mind of God for mankind is to have dominion, over all other creatures. Likewise, John 1: 12- says 'But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name'.

Ultimately, the two scriptures are parallel in meaning- it emphasizes God's given power in life, which we also called dominion. In fact, the book of Genesis emphasized God the creator and not the creation.

Dominion has to be understood in the context of kingdom, and then power. According to the English Dictionary, Dominion means power to control; sovereignty or control. Therefore, we need to know and  acknowledge God Almighty as the King and without the ultimate King, there is no kingdom.

Right from creation, God is and will always be the King. He’s been the King, ruling with power and His authority cannot be challenged. ' .. His dominion and the peace shall have no end' Isaiah 9:7. Also, where the word of a king is, there’s power. Ecclesiastes 8:4. As believers, we carry the power of the King; to dominate with His light and bring all men into His marvelous light.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” - Genesis 1: 26

Dominion is a topic that many of us talk about but few of us really possess. Dominion is power, authority or control over something or someone. It is the ability to request or command and expect a fulfillment of that appeal. To have dominion is to rule, to be in charge.

As children of God, understanding dominion is crucial to his walk with God. A lack of understanding in this area could cost him spiritually and naturally too.

Meanwhile, Spiritual dominion is not arbitrary ruler ship. It is not about going around commanding and demanding at your own discretion. Spiritual dominion falls under the auspices of God. It is only effective and effectual when it submits totally to the will of God.

• Spiritual dominion begins in you: You will never be able to exercise power or authority over anything until you have first conquered self.
• Flesh is our greatest enemy. The church today appears to be on fire with spiritual warfare. Going against demonic activities, battling demons and rebuking the forces of evil, but until you conquer your flesh you are no match for the enemy.
• We must crucify, dominate and control flesh and make it bow to the dictates of God. Romans 12:1
• Definitely, the Word of God has not changed! Except we first take dominion over ourselves, over habits and desires and unbridled lusts and passions that are in us we can never expect to have dominion over anything else.
• You have to choose to be different. People who take dominion are leaders not followers. Leaders often times learn through their test and trial. They learn through their experiences and they believe God to the fulfilling of his promises.
  
• Be steadfast unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord”

How many times in your life has the enemy tried to destroy you. He set you up for failure
He caused accidents, injuries and sickness, but God kept you alive, He kept your able in sound mind and strength, ready for this day, this hour, this season

• Control - Bring your body under control. Bring your mind under control. Bring your spirit under control. Watch what you say. Get your attitude together. Stand for righteousness
• Stand for holiness. Uphold God’s word. Rejoice in troubles.
• Worship with commitment, And stand in authority. Whatever that mountain is in front of you, take dominion. Don’t let it stand in your way. Don’t let it keep you from your place of power and dominion in God. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”

For this reason, many are confused because they seek answers for the ‘big’ questions outside God. Many ask: Who am I?
Where do I come from?
Why am I here?
Where am I going from here?
Who created the world? Etc

Obviously, it is much easier for anyone to talk about the purpose of their career, family, finance etc but have you ever wondered what the ultimate purpose of your existence is?

In today's world where everything is been redefined as a rebellion against God, we all need to go back to the Masterplan of God to know His original purpose for our nation, families, individuals etc.
However, we need to realise that the end purpose to live for must be a delight to God.

Reading: Ephesians1: 1-9 (KJV)
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Key notes:

• If you don't have a purpose to die for, you definitely don't have a purpose to live for.
• The Ultimate Purpose to live for is 'to love God'. To live ‘according’ to the will of God.

Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV)  And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

However, any door that restricts access becomes a barrier. Likewise, an unused open door becomes irrelevant. Therefore, you need to utilise your open door, else it becomes wasted.

Looking at the scriptures, Jesus Christ is the most important door of life. John 10:1-2, 7, 9 respectively says:

• John 10:1-2 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
  
• John 10: 7  Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
  
• John 10: 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
  

Jesus Christ is the biggest, widest, evergreen door ever known. And anyone can access this most important door by giving their life to Christ. Being born-again gives a believer an everlasting access to the Door.

Revelation 3: 7-13    
The Faithful Church

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,
‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’

Ephesians 6 verse 16 says “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Faith is about ‘the God in whom I trust’. Faith in God is the shield and currency of the Kingdom of God.

I John 5:4b says “…This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”
Thus, Faith in God is a strong shield to guarantee our victory in life. However, having Faith in God neither mean an absence of trouble nor a rosy lifestyle, but it encourages and protects the believer to come out strong. Sometimes, God brings a believer out of a situation while at times, He strengthens us through it.

Now, lets discuss the concept of ‘Taking’ the shield.
Taking the shield of faith means strategic skilful handling of faith like a trained soldier. In 1 Chronicles 12 verse 1 to 8 mentioned the mighty men of valour with David. In verse 8, the Bible says: “And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;”.
This scripture among others is pointing us to the need of carefully and skilfully taking the shield of faith as one of the Christian armour.

Did you know that the Lord God is our shield? And the shield of faith means trust (faith) in God?
Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

In other words, Faith is about ‘the God in whom I trust’.

Faith is knowing God. In fact, Faith is a personal revelation of who God is like the men of faith in Hebrews 11. Remember, the Shield (God) is big and strong enough to protect. You don’t need to add anything to help God.

Obviously, there are many ways to live a supernatural life and one of those is by Fasting and Prayer. Unfortunately, this has been limited to when there is a foreseen ‘big’ issue, or a corporate faith program like the just concluded Mid-year 21 days Fasting and Prayer etc.

In fact, most believers are lovers of food and found it difficult to deny the body of food by engaging in spiritual exercise called fasting and prayer. However, we are encouraged to continue seeking the presence of God, more and more, via fasting and prayer.

It is essential to always seek the face of God because your walk with God is continuous and not periodic. Fasting and prayer equips the believer for the divine project committed in their hands. Acts 13: 3  “And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

Fasting and prayer is more than abstaining from the physical food. It involves effectual prayers, studying the Bible and listening back to God while putting aside your good food. It is an essential recipe for supernatural living.

Note: Fasting without fervent prayer is hunger strike.

Things to note:

• Have a focus for the fasting and prayer e.g. to know God more, to intercede for a friend or an unbeliever etc, to activate the supernatural living and more
• Fasting and prayer gives us spiritual hunger for God.

Psalm 42: 1 "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

• Fasting and prayer activates spiritual awakening and living!

In conclusion, for any believer to live a supernatural life, it is important to know the supernatural God, read about the supernatural book (Bible) and believe in the grace of supernatural living.
